i've got 91 eddie bauer that no longer has ac...i was wondering if i need to buy the dual core again or if ill be fine with the single core as i have no ac anymore?

any ideas comments suggestions would be greatly appreciated....i'd like to get the single core as it's way easier to install an efan on....right now i've got the dual core rad and had to mount the fan on the front and reverse the polarity.

thanks all i appreciate the input very much.

The single/dual core has to do with the tranmission, neither has anything to do with the A/C.

Automatic transmission models get the dual core radiator, which also has the built-in transmission cooler.

Manual transmission models get the single core radiator, which has no transmission cooler and a different lower hose outlet.

It's feasable to swap one for the other, sure, but if you have an automatic transmission, I'd stick with the dual-core radiator for the best possible cooling. You can either just remove the A/C condenser from in front of the radiator for better cooling, or leave it there for some protection.

If you have a manual transmission, the single core is fine.

Just to add to the choices, I have a non AC, manual ex and got a single core and e-fan with a large oil cooler for the engine + dual remote mount filters mounted inside the grill. Works great, though the hose routing needs to be thoughtfully done as the headers I have make for a tight fit.

mines an auto...rats....having trouble with the efan....there's no room for a fan kinda a pain....i've got a taurus one mounted on the front of the radiator with polarity reversed so it blows....but it's not doing the trick...

thaanks for the info guys
:)

im looking at putting 2 9 inch 1500 cfm a piece in the puller position staggered a little and take the taurus pusher off completely...any thoughts on that? it's nearly impossible to find a fan that will fit the 3.5 inch space between rad and water pump pulley......ive also been toying with moving the rad bracket forward to make a little more room and using the taurus fan as a big ole puller....but not sure how feasible that is..

thanks all any ideas are welcome:)

edit: i was reading jd's hhr fan install and he said he was running a manual trans rad and some extra tranny coolers.....i think that might be the way to go....i wonder how big of coolers i would need or if i could do just one biggin... interesting that jd's a smart feller

im running a dual core and an hhr fan. i still had a little gap left between the fan motor and the pump snout..

having the tranny cooler in the rad it whats supposed to be best. the two fluids help eachother warm up quickly. there was a post about it awhile back

Just noticed rockauto.com has an AC Delco single core radiator that says its for an Automatic without A/C. Might want to hop on that if it's what you're after.

I saw one at autozone.com also...surprised me... Single core with tranny lines...that should do the trick....;)...thanks all
