I know this may seem like I am a complete moron, and it isn't far off.. lol but seriously how easy is it to install the indiglo gauges in my 1995 explorer? It has a couple plugs that im not sure where to put when I take it apart, and I would like to know how to install these. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I also have matching heat/ac guage.

thanks,

Jason

ok i did them on my 96
well here it goes.
I got the E-bay gauges without the color switching thingy. So you pull apart the dash and then pull the gauge cluster. Then you pull the nedels with a needle puller(looks alot like a golf divot fixer) you then use tape or super glue to secure therm to the factory gauges make sure evreything is lined up plug the cluster back in run the wires from the indiglo unit to the switch, or put the power line to your headlight dimmer(it may be the white wire)
plug it all in get a power source for the lights and a ground test them out and put the dash back together.....it took me 3 hours with no directons(i had a friend) and we super glued them to the factory gauges. And they look great.
here is a thread with more complete install

and just to add a bit to the install I have 4wd and all the plugs and such in my center consol and I did not need to unplug them the wires were longe enough to rest it on the conpartment before ash tray.

Some guages allow you to fit the guage in place without removing the indicator (speed, tach ect.) needles. If you dont really have to remove them, dont. Some folks have a hard time getting them back in the right place.

thank you for all of the advice and directions.

One question, however. Where do I find this needle-remover thing you speak of.

And by not being able to put the needle back int he position it is supposed to be do you mean it wont say the proper speed or rpms? I think im lost.

I appreciate everything, and thanks bill for your 2 cents which actually is always helpful.

my buddy had the needle remover...i could not tell the differnce between that and a gold divot fixer tool.

As for the needles mark were they are when the truck is shut off then replace them at the smae point.
when i did mine i also lined up all of the needles with their "dots"(the limiter for the needle) so that the sppedo needle went with the speedo..etc..

You can use a fork to remove the needles too

When I did the gauges, mine just slided right over the needles. I will never ever do Euro gauges again though. Weather change screws with them and they stick.

Looking for Guages

I'm looking for indigo guages for my '03 explorer 2 DR sport I checked the sight you reccomended and ended up on eBay. I like the ones you have on your post where the background dosen't light up, are all the guage kits the same or are the year specific. Sorry if the questions are dumb but I've never moded a Explorer before. Thanks for any help :)
