1992 Ford Explorer 2WD
My indoor lights(dome and back) are on all the time when the key is out and the engine is off. I have a 1992 explorer 2wd 4d. It's like there is a door open, but none of them are. Does anyone know what fuse goes to those lights? Or anyway i can stop it from doing this? For now i just unplug the battery.

probably your tailgate or tailgate glass, i had this problem and even though my tailgate seemed like it was closed, the drivers side latch wasnt completely clicking in, give it a good hard shove and see if the light goes out. I ended up swapping out the drivers side tailgate latch with a junkyard one and its fine now

+1 on tailgate/hatch. sometimes mine will do this, but if i open and close the hatch a few time it goes off. the little switch gets stuck. some wd40 would probably stop this from happening, but i don't feel like taking the tailgate apart to find the switch and i don't know if you can get at it without removing the interior panel.

Is the plastic sleeve on the latch post missing?
The latch jaws close around the post bolted to the door jamb that should have a sleeve on it.
If the sleeve is missing the jaws won't close all the way.

no, my sleeves are in good shape. .

Had the same problem. Turned out to be the headlight switch was turned for the diming of the dash.

I tried turning the switch for the lights, it didnt go off. I've been forced to pull the headlight fuse, but that turns off all the inside lights :( Thank god i'm not driving it yet

Also the 4 door switches "Close" or make contact when the door is open.
Check the switches. A shorted switch will keep the lights on. Although I do remember some timer that will cause the lights to go out if the door or maybe the rear hatch is left open for a certian period of time. I'll have to check that.

I checked the time out info and it is the 1994 Limited that has the 45 minute time out function.
