Hey guys! My stock sub is blown and I was wondering whcih of this two brands I should go with or if you guys have any experience with either. The models I'm looking at are

Infinity Reference REF850W
JL Audio 8W1v2-4

Any input would be great!

Infinity will be louder, JL will sound better, all depends on what you want.

I would rather get the Infinity but the mounting depth is too deep. I measured the stock sub to be about 4" and the Infinity is 4-5/16". The JL sub is 3-13/16" or something like that. Basically, I want something that I can bolt right up and plug into the stock location without any modification. I want it to run on the stock sub amp, and I want it to sound better that the stock sub. If I can achieve all of that with the JL sub I'll get that. I would rather have quality over quantity.

Anybody else have any experience with either of these or have suggestions for something else?

not that paticular model, but i've had a 10" jl w6 in there for at least 4 years now and it still sounds nice and tight. my door speakers are also jl and they have held up superb as well, i'm sure if you can upgrade your amp later on you would really bring it out.

ohms

Nobody seems too concerned about ohms. It's my understanding that the stock sub is meant to drive an 8 ohm speaker not a 4 ohm. I replaced a stock sub with a 6 1/2" 4 ohm JL and it eventually blew the sub amp. It didn't happen right away but over time, it blew. I would suggest that if your staying with the stock sub amp you look at an 8 ohm 6 1/2 JL not the 4 ohm speaker. I believe that last years model is under 4" in depth while this years model is over 4" in depth. Just my two cents...hope it helps

Just get a DVC 4ohm and conect it in series

No.

Even I recommend the JL over Infinity.

Check also the Kicker CVX, Pioneer slim, CDT EF8, Lorentz Neo 8, MTX 4500, Treo TSi, Aura NRT, Earthquake Slim...

that's all I have off the top of my head.

Went with the JL. 8W1v2-4. Should mount right into the stock sub bow without any problems. Should I do anything to cover up the hole from where the bolt was in the old sub? Also, I think this sub is just a smidge thinner than the stock sub. Should I put anything in the back of the box to fill the gap (if any) or just leave it go. Thanks for the advice everybody. It should be here Wednesday. I'll let you know how it sounds when I get it in.

Oh, and the old sub seperated around the edge of the speaker all the way around. So I ran two beads of Elmers glue around it and it seems to be holding up pretty well :) Will get me to Wednesday at least. I couldn't stand it without any bass.
