1993 Ford Explorer Sport
Hey.
I have a 1993 Ford Explorer sport with a 5 speed and the transfer case will not engage. I have swapped out the module, push button and the motor and i cant even hear a click. I would like to be able to put a manual shift tcase in it but cant find the shifter or linkages anywhere in this area of TN. Any and all help in diagnosing this will be greatly appreciated. Also if anyone has a shifter or know of the whereabouts of one it will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum!

Check the For Sale section. Also check the Ranger Station for sale section, pretty sure there are some manual shift linkages and cases for sale on there last I checked. The manual shift case shares many of the parts with the electric shift, but cannot be retrofitted with the manual linkage to my knowledge.

Another option is a device I think that is called the Shiftster, which replaces the shift motor with a knob turned from under the truck, but if you want to get your electronic shift stock system working, research on this forum should help you find ways to troubleshoot it. Without changing to a manual t-case or a shiftster, this is probably your best bet if you have a multimeter and patience.

Like arco mentioned, the Shiftster is a good inexpensive fix for the 1354E. The one down side is you have to reach under the truck to shift it, but it's not like you're shifting it every dew minutes. I've been did it that way for years.

thanks. I think i may have found the problem last night. I was looking and I am not getting 5 volts up to the 4wd switch from the module. I think i may have gotten a bad one. Tomorrow I am going to the local salvage yard and trying another.
