Wanted Information on engine swapping.

I have an 05 explorer, 4,0 liter, 8th digit vin "K". I have access to a 2000 Ford 4.0 liter v6, not sure of the Vin yet, but I need to know the difference and if it will interchange.

Pretty much the same engine...but I thought the timing chain issue was resolved (mostly) in 02 or 03?

To the OP, why are you looking at doing a swap? Is your 05 having some issues?

05 Explorer

05 lost a piston. Converter plugged up and caused extreme heat or particles into the cylinders. Had no symptoms or loss of power. Thanks

Oh damn. That definately sucks. Might there be problem with emissions because its an older engine?

All the sohc engine blocks are the same, you will have to change the fuel rail and fuel injectors, because of differences in the wiring between years.
