My inherited 2000 Explorer XLT is cherry for its age. Shiny red with only 90,000 miles on it. I was astonished how many bells and whistles it has on it, including the top radio/CD/tape player and an electric seat. AC is running great, so to prepare for a 1000-mile trip, Red has new, good tires, new ball joints, new battery and serpentine belt. Anything else I should have checked? It made it from Philadelphia to Akron after fluids were changed just fine. Not a rattle or squeal. Love it. Now I can cart my dogs in their crates around. Have named Big Red. Occasionally I’m quite rude and call him “the truck.”
