Does anyone know what type of paint Ford used for the inner rear fender wells on first and second generation Explorers? It looks to be a high gloss expoxy or something similiar? Thanks Mike

FYI only the front of a vehicle has fenders. The back is a quarter panel.

Are you talking about inside where the tire runs ?

Yes, inside where the tire runs. You are right..inside the rear quarter panels. Do you know what was used or how to duplicate it? Would like to refinish both of my Explorers in this area. Keeps them looking new. Thanks Mike

Well, at the body shop where I work we have a air powered caulk gun that does a pretty good job of duplicating that look. Unfortunately it is a very expensive gun. If you want to achieve that factory look, you are pretty much out of luck.
Any way it is a ruberised urathane type material.
A can of undercoating, might be a alternative.
