I have a AWD 2007 Explorer 4.0L I noticed this morning the rear tires were worn down to the wire on the inside only?

What would cause this? Ball joints?

Ditto, take it to an alignment shops and tell them which corner that tire is wearing too fast on. Ask them to find out what parts it needs there to fix it. The BJ is a good guess, but the bearings also are prone to wearing out. Those rear IRS suspensions need semi regular care, say at least every ten years.

Ok something else to consider, when breaking and accelerating I notice a knocking sensation, no sound, just feels like a ball or something rolling and hitting the drivers seat.

That sounds like a very worn out BJ or bushing. Bearings will have some kind of almost constant sound, grinding of sorts. Eating a tire fast is a minor symptom if the suspension has a bad part in it. Have it checked out soon, and avoid abrupt changes, hard braking, gas, steering.

Thanks,

It booked in on Friday for new tires, Ill get them to take a look at the ball joints while they are at it
