2004 Explorer XLT
I really didn't know which sub-forum to post this in, so here I am. I just got my new 2004 XLT. It looked spotless at the dealership when I bought it but found something when I got home. Go figure. I was wondering if anyone had a good way of repairing without replacing the whole panel. My girlfriend said to just live with it, but I like having things looking good.

I've got scratches like that on my glove compartment door. I haven't tried it yet, but I've thought about very lightly heating the scratches with a lighter, and then blending the scratch in with my finger... Seems like it might work. I just need to get off my butt and give a try.

I would think that the lighter would blacken it. A different heat source without an open flame might work better. Hair dryer or heat gun. Heat gun might be to hot.

Lowest heat gun setting would work, although it would level the molded textured finish.

live with it or buy a new trim panel. [/opinion]
