So my friend's GF has a 00 XLS and it had the crappy console that has the bag (minus the bag), the other day her mom pushed the armrest further than what it wanted to go and broke the hinge.
She the went to an upholstery shop to get it replaced, and they quoted her $120. So my friend called me and asked what to do and I told him to go to the JY and buy the full one and we'd swap it for less than that, he got 1 from a 01 ST and today we spent 4 hours swaping it (we had to go buy some screws, silicone for the duct, etc) and paint the cupholder part black (Krylon) as it was silver.

Overall we had no issues and it looks great, the only problem we have, is that we want to hook the rear blower and we couldn't find which wires to conect, we already know it works, but it has a harness that at some point changes colors, I did search here but found a couple of posts with no answer, does anyboy know which wires to conect? it has an aftermarket HU so we only want the blower to work
Thanks!

Sorry, no idea about the wiring....but where are the pics??? 4 hours of hard labour should have documentation of all your effort!!! ;)

These are the diagrams for how the long console is wired:

There may be interface kits so you can use the rear controls with your aftermarket HU but you'd have to look into it.

We were over 100º and we have no garage, so we wanted to finish as soon as posible, so I only have 2 pics I took at the end with my cell phone, I´ll upload them from home later today.

Thanks Jackal, I´ll study it, but I didn´t see any relays, so if I´m reading this correctly I´ll need one, from memory I´m reading it from motor to front of the console and I agree with what I see, but then the wires end at 2 connectors (I assume one for radio control, 1 for blower) control, so I´m deff missing the relay, also I don´t see where it gets the ground, do you have a better resolution scan? maybe I´m just sleep deprived and tired :p:
She does not want the rear radio controls, so less work for us :D

Yes, you're definitely going to need a relay if the required one isn't in the console. I don't know myself where it is in Explorers with rear air.

The factory ground comes from the "left rear corner of the engine compartment, near the fender apron." It'll more than likely be easier for you to ground it under the dash somehwere.

I'll try to re-upload the diagram some other time.

Thanks Jackal

I already have a ground there, the truck came with some cheapo autozone driving ligts, last week it got a new bumper with stock fog lights wired to the stock switch, so I used the ground for the aftermarket switch to plug the accesory 12v, and the common ground that the console has, I also connected the ilumination to the bulb harness that went to the ashtray so the buttons in the controls light up, but I don't see in the diagram where is the blower getting the ground, to me it seems like it's grounded to thee chasis (57 in your diagram), but Idon't have any loose wires

Thanks for posting this - I have a 2000 XLS as well, and the console arm rest is broken - just agreed to buy a used full-length console, and then realized I had no idea if it would actually fit well - good to know it does!!

Any tips you have on the install would be GREATLY appreciated by this less-than-shadetree mechanic...I'm not planning on hooking up the air or radio, just the console itself. What did you do with the ashtray and power point? Do they have to be removed, or will it just cover them up?

You will have to remove those, then use the harness for the power point for the one on the right side of the full lenght console.
My memory card for the cell phone broke, so I wasn't able to upload the pix...
