I just intalled the front shocks on my

1991 explorer
2 door xl

Installation was relatively easy except for the top nut on the shocks. On BOTH sides it snapped off. thats a word of warning but I wasn't reusing the so it was no big deal. I was removing Monroe sensa tracs that looked like they were older than dirt, I put on the new shocks tightened down the nuts and set the car back down.

took it for a test drive, seemed a little un-responsive so I turned the knobs to a different setting. WOW it corners alot better, handles alot better, but I ahve yet to take it off road.

Questions:

Do I want it on 1 or 5 when offroading?

How do I know which setting the knobs is on? I see no markings. Thanks

Mine have tiny numbers, 1-5, molded into the black knob. Look closely, or maybe they don't come that way any more.

If you turn the knob counter-clockwise till it stops, that should be 1, the softest setting. Turning it clockwise from that point is 2-5, and you should feel the knob turning with more resistance as you go up.

The best offroad setting would really depend on your type of offroading, but generally lower is better. You can keep adjusting until it feels right. You can run different setting front and rear, too. Have fun!

I see...

Mine also has numbers but I saw no marker lines to indicate a position, but 1 is all the way counter clockwise so that should help me out. Thanks!
