last weekend i installed a q-logic stealth box with a 10" orion sub and an orion cobalt amp. before i tell about the install and how it sounds, i really have to thank a few people first. without the help of lee (leenjen), willie (williechu), sean (sideswipe), kmac, and black magic (sorry, i dont know your first names guys
), and all the guys who helped me out with tips on removing the rear panel (that panel remover tool was absolutely worth the $9), this setup wouldnt have come out nearly as nicely as it did (sound and aesthetics.)
so, i took pics with a crappy camera and they all came out so dark i cant even tell what they are, but ill have pics up in a couple weeks, which ill get to in a minute.
i ran 4 gauge wire from the distribution box under the hood to a fuse under the hood to a distribution block behind the rear passenger side panel, right next to the amp, which is right next to the box. i made an amp rack out of some mdf i had laying around, and it looks awesome; its mounted to the support under the window behind the panel. the only problem is that its gonna take me a while before i have the amp set how i like it, so i have to take off the panel to adjust it, but i just picked up some extra "retainers" from ford (those plastic push clips that hold the panels on; they were like $10.50 for about 4 million of them), and im going to drill 2-3 holes in the panel above the amp so i can fit a screwdriver in there to adjust the amp and plug the holes with the retainers, so i can get em off easily. when i drill the holes, ill get pics of everything behind the panel with my digital camera, so i know theyll be good pics
so far, it sounds great. i havent listened to any hip hop on it yet, but rock (i.e. rage against the machine, at the drive-in, stabbing westward, etc.) sounds really good, and pink floyd sounds amazing!
im sure im leaving a lot out, so if anyone has any questions, fire away. also, once i get the pics, youll get a better idea (of how i mounted the amp, spaced the amp out from the rack, ran the wires, ground, distribution block, etc.), since a picture is worth a thousand words, ill stop typing now
