you know ps2 IS is a dvd player :) just get the ps2.

If you are only doing one unit go for the PS2! In my setup I have the DVD indash and a PS2. It's awesome to have two DVD's playing at the same time. Right now I love to have Fast and Furious on one screen and 4x4 Evo on the other, then who knows what on the front. People are blown away!

Yea, i was going to just get a ps2, but i am on a limited budget and i can get a car dvd player for under $150. If anyone can tell me where i could get a ps2 for cheap....then please do.

Are you guys saying you're putting the PS2 in the dash? Now that would be something I'd love to see.

Ok, here's a dumb question...

Here's the scosche kit:

But um... I don't see a link from where I can order direct. Do I need to go into a parts store or order from a dealership or something? I've been in a few stores and glimpsed through the install kits, but didn't see this model, as I'm assuming it's not a common one...

Anybody have a place they order from online that's cheap? Is it better to order from someplace local (in Denver).

oops hahah. I guess I was just taking online order forms for granted, and forgot about "old-fashioned" phones... heh

This thread is about a week or so old, but after reading it I went out and bought me DIN size EQ to go with my DIN size HU, I bought the kit from Circuit City, it is a Metra 99-5805 vice Scosche, but it isn't even close to fitting either one of my units. Both are too wide. Can I modify this thing, or do I really need the kit to install my units? I was thinking if I could somehow strap them together and mount them as if they were a Double DIN unit. I am kinda flustered, I have a $300 HU and a $300 EQ and I can't do anything with them.

:fire:

You need to get the Metra 99-5600 kit. That's the kit I used to install my DIN HU and 1/2 DIN EQ. Both fit perfectly.

I started to get a 1/2 DIN EQ, but after reading that people had done two full DIN installs, I went ahead and bought a DIN size EQ.

Gotcha. I didn't see where you said it was a full DIN EQ.

That picture does not look like it accomodates a DIN HU and a .5 DIN EQ to me....looks like its for some special-fit application....

Well, here it is! Accomodates perfectly. The kit is also made to mount an older 2-post stereo. You have to cut out the 2-post mounts and it will then mount the DIN chassis.

I'm using the same dash kit in my Explorer as well.

Looks like that empeg player is no longer on the market?

Anyone know of another mp3 linux based car 'puter?

Or should I go with a AM/FM/CD/MP3/DVD player?

If so, any recommendations?
