Hello everybody. I have been lurking here for about 20 minutes and I am amazed at how much you people know(lol).

I am ready to install a system in my Ford Explorer which is a 1993(so far a JVC 45X4 cd player is in it, a nice new paint job, and some nice lil big rims on it).

What I am wondering, is, I CAN PAY TO HAVE IT DONE, but I have always wanted to learn to install my own amps.

I have a 1989 Ford Thunderbird also which I can use as a "TEST CAR" for this amp hook up just to be on the safe side.

Is there a website, or a thread here tells step by step how to hook up a amp? Pics are very welcomes but optional.

First, welcome to the site! You should be able to find everything you need to know about your explorer here. Second, you can usually find what you need to know if you search the site first. Search first, ask questions later:). Third doing a search on Yahoo.com I discovered this. Click here. Hopefully this answers some questions on how to do this. I did not do a search on this site but I bet you could find something here on this site about installing an amp. Fourth, Installing an amp is not very hard at all. You just need to find a suitable mounting location, run all the power and ground and low level inputs and then the outputs to speakers and hook everyting up. Really not much to this. If you have any questions, ask away. Again, WELCOME TO THE SITE!

^^Thanks. All information is very much appreciated

Hello again. This morning I went under the hood of my ford(the explorer). i noticed something. A Power wire was already running from the battery and had a fuse on it that said AAMP. Inside that fuse box was a lil 15A(I think) fuse. You know the lil blue or green kinds. So Im wondering, could this ford already be equipped with a factory amp? Or is that wire for something else
