I know how to do everything except one...there are two wires that need to be sautered somewhere, but I don't know where they need to be sautered...if anyone can tell me or link me, I would greatly appreciate it.
Ya I installed mine it took forever to find a place to connect them, but i did it.
1. Take out the whole cluster by pressing the button on top of the cluster coming into the odometer.
2. Remove the cluster from the wiring harness in the back.
3. Find the two black and red wires in the harness that are next to each other and connect them to your wires for your gauges, I just slid mine in and reconnected everything.
I have heard stories of the gauges burning out, but mine have lasted more than a year.
The two wires that you are talking about should be red and black (at least mine were). You connect the black one to a chassis ground, and you connect the red one to the headlight switch. I sautered (sp) the red wire onto the small brown wire that goes into the headlight switch, but about two minutes ago I read that some people that are doing this are having the controller fry after a while because it is apparently too much power for the controller, and that you should actually connect the red wire to a certain wire behind the instrument cluster. I don't have time to look at it again, but here's the link: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=98645
