Installing newer OEM head unit

Does anyone know if any of the newer head units will plug in directly on my 99 Explorer? My Dad has a 2007 Ranger with mp3 player and auxiliary input would it work? I don't want to loose the steering wheel controls or deal with the EQ differences of an after market unit.

No one knows? It looks like my least expensive route is the PIE aux input.

Update, I installed a 6 disk indash changer from a 2003 Sport Track and the sound is far better than the previous head unit. Still not aux input but a step in the right direction.
