Hi Everyone,

I have been searching for answers here on the problem I am having with my head unit. I was able to find the solution for the fading, blinking, really aggravating problem with the display, but cannot locate anything on the other issue. My head unit no longer recognizes the CDDJ in the system, the Changer isn't ejecting the magazine either, but I can do that manually at some point.

My question: Do the boards referenced in the display illumination issue also control the ability to recognize the changer?

All of the connections for the changer are solid, and the rear controls are still working fine.

Mr. H.

Let me get this right the rear controls still can control the CDDJ, but the head unit doesn't recognise it? I wouldnt' think the display has anything to do with the with the ability to recognise the CDDJ. You can find a used headunit on beya for around $50.

I have had my Mach not recognize, play or eject a CD or cassette. I never had the changer issue. Try unplugging the radio, for about 15 minutes. I had some AC work to do two years ago, and that brought my display and CD/cassette back on line. It was some kind of logic issue in the radio. My recent repair work should have fixed my issues. Good luck,

Sorry I was not clear on the rear controls. They still have the ability to control the volume and seek operations for the headunit, from the rear. They do not operate the CDDJ. Also, as you stated, the display would not control the CDDJ, my question is, since the display has a power "card" or "pc-type" board that regulates and supplies its power to light the display, might it also carry the components that control the head unit's ability to recognize the CDDJ in the system. Yes it may be a reach to a solution, but, I's rather try to fix the issue because I enjoy the challenge and satisfaction of a job well done versus writing a check for a new one. In the end that may happen anyway, but $50.00 off the bay, my guess is the HU would have the same issues as what I am experiencing. A reman goes for about $150 to $300 (if memory serves).

Thanks for the response though! :p:

I will give this a shot, thanks for the suggestion!:D

If you can't find a short cheap solution, plan to have the display board changed. If you have an issue, and you like the radio features, locate a repair source and discuss the symptom, then have them fix both the display and your issue.

I liked sending mine to someone who specializes in these two individual Pioneer models. There are countless repair shops doing general stuff for all radios, I found someone who likes these two himself and knows all about them. Good luck,

Hey all. I'm having a similar problem. I recently tried to put my factory base unit (AM/FM/Single CD) back in my 02 Explorer to go back to the factory look. When I first got my Explorer, I remember that it would display No CDDJ if I would press the CD button while a CD was playing. It is no longer doing so. Is there a reset procedure or something to fix this problem or am I out of luck? I'm hoping to hook up my Ipod to the changer controls.
