Has anyone installed the factory remote start from ford in their trucks? If so how difficult was the job.

LOL, it was more than I wanted. I hired Ford to do it and then they have to warrantee there work. But that's just me.

I havent done a factory one but plenty of aftermarket remote starts. They arent terrible if you are well versed at wiring. I would think that the factory version would be rather simple

I installed a Ford Silver system (remote start and keyless entry) in my 98 and it took me 14 hours. I didnt rush the job because I had never done one before. There were about 30 pages of instructions with lots of details. It's not a very hard job, just time consuming and nerve racking.

aftermarket remote-start, not factory.

I did the install w/ Hokie, who is a certified audio installer. It took us pretty close to 10 hours to install it all. It isn't too complex in theory, but you can run into snags figuring out which wire is which etc. Try to have a friend who knows a lot about it help you. I dont think I'd do it alone if it is your first time trying something like this.

Lol.. meaning he watched me work on his truck in my garage...

And it would've only taken me 6 hours if we would've known to ground 3 wires and not 2... troubleshooting/searching for wires is a PITA

But all in all, its not hard, just tedious.
