I have a 2009 Limited with 41k on it. Last night I got in the car and noticed the temperature gauge was dark. Seems kind of early for dash bulbs burning out. I have an 03 XLT for almost six years and never had one burn out. Thoughts?

I had one fail at 90k on my '06. I replaced them all at the same time. You will probably have to get these at the dealer since it is a socket/bulb combo.

I had one go at 100K. Just replaced them all. The bulbs themselves are cheap, just a few bucks. Like nleipziger said, they are a single part, socket and bulb. Someone on here continues to say that you can buy the bulb and socket (or somehow take the bulb out of the socket and just replace the bulb) separately but that has not been my experience.

Just replaced some on my X the other day. I only needed to replace 1 bulb but I went ahead and bought 3 to have some for stock.

I got them from the dealer for $5.xx each.

It is a really easy fix.
1. Remove the lower panel below the steering wheel. (2 screws)
2. Remove the gauge bezel... 2 screws at the bottom and snap-ins at the top.
3.Remove gauge cluster...4 screws and 1 plug
4. Change Lights

It took a whole 10 minutes to do including getting and putting the tools away.

I had one go out while the dealer had it fixing some other stuff. I thought they did something in the dash and broke it. It was covered under warranty so I wasn't worried about it. Funny coincidence I guess. I've had a car that was 14 years old, another 12 years, a couple near 10 years, and I've never has a dash light out before that one.
