My digital odometer screen, mpg's info, system check, etc... is not coming on or showing. The backlight is still on and all the gauges (speedometer, temp., oil) are all working properly, just that little screen is blank all of a sudden. I have a 2006 Ford Explorer. I have the standard screen, no navigation or anything...Any ideas on what to do?

Thank you,
Jake

If it helps, I'm referring to the actual message center, the lights come on but the messages are blank. Any ideas are much appreciated.

Thx

I believe for the 06's there is a TSB regarding the LCD screen. However, in your case it sounds like it is completely dead and a new one is needed.

Can you get just the new screen or do you have to replace entire cluster?

Thx

I am wondering if there is any new information on this topic/problem. I have the exact same problems as the OP. My message center is backlit green, but no words. I had just recently reset the oil life indicator and this occurred next time it was driven.

2006 XLT 4x4 4.0L with 82,000 miles.

Edit: Now that I have removed the cluster I can see no way to get it apart gracefully and inspect or repair. In fact, after trying to carefully separate the circuit board from the gauge assembly, the tach no longer functions. Oops! I am looking into sending it off for cloning to a used unit. looks like the total cost with programming and shipping will run appx $300.

Just want to add that instrumentclusterstore.com did exactly as promised and cloned my cluster to a used cluster with excellent customer service and turn around! Highly recommended.
