I broke my Cluster but was able to find one from a 2007 for a reasonable price. Here is the problem, it won't start with the new cluster. If I disconnect the cluster and plug in the broken one it will start, then I can switch clusters but the new one does not have all the functions working. No Tach or Speedo working and the miles are wrong. Will I have to go to Ford to have it reprogrammed and does anyone have any idea what it will cost me?

You will have to have a Ford tech dump the data from your old cluster to the new one. Not sure what it will cost you.

Please read this so you will not get screwed like me. I took my vehicle to the Ford Dealer where I purchased the Ex from today. I was orginally told it would cost $120.00, so I said o.k. After about two hours I was told they were having trouble downloading the cluster and it would be $360.00, figuring I would never pay this again and the cluster would be fixed I said yes. About 2 hours later I was told by the Tech person that the Cluster had the wrong part#. After another hour I was given this story. I may have an electrical problem or the cluster might not work in my Ex. I could leave it over night or take it as is and only be charged labor. I ended up paying $390.00, I have two keys that will start the vehicle but I have no working tach or speedo and now my remote start does not work. After I got home I took a good look at the tag that was attached to the cluster I brought and I realized it says it came out of a 2007 Sport Track. So, that is probably why it would not take the information and wont work properly. I am soooo pissed because I feel like once the cluster was hooked up to the computer the Tech should of figured out it was the wrong cluster. I GOT SCREWED!!! I just hope knowone else ever has to go through this. If the part number is'nt an exact match it wont work but some Ford Dealers will just keep tryin to put a round peg in a square hole, all cost to you. And yes, I am going to raise some hell with them now that it has all sunk in.

Correction, it actually came out of 2007 Ford Explorer XLT. I had ford check the Vin.

so if your gauge cluster is out our trucks wont start? cause my miles readout -------- and it wont start.
