Hi everyone,

I have a 98 Ford Explorer and I was pulling into my driveway last night and all of a sudden my instrument lights went out. I did hit a small bump at the entrance on my driveway but nothing serious. I played with the dimmer wheel and checked the fuses but nothing worked. Is is possible that all bulbs went out at once? This seems strange to me. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

P.s. Sorry I put this in the wrong forum before

Welcome To The Forum! I would suggest you try and replace the dimmer.

I haven't checked the connector yet but that will be my next step now. I haven't checked the fourms on how to do this but is it an easy process to identify the correct connector? I'm new when it comes ford electrical systems.

Thanks for the help and advice everyone! This forum is a great resource. The problem turned out to be faulty trailer wiring and it was blowing a fuse in the engine compartment box. This caused my instrument panel lights and taillights to not function properly.

If the tow vehicle is wired up properly, the trailer lighting should be completely isolated from the tow vehicle's wiring. If the trailer lights caused the truck's wiring to blow the fuse, there's something there that's not right... Where is the trailer wiring connected to the tow vehicle?
