After reading, and reading, and reading, I think I'm ready to tackle the manifold gaskets. Just to make sure I've got it right,I will be replacing the upper and lower intake manifold gaskets. And while I'm there I am going to also replace the front and the rear cam ilders. Am I correct to buy the gaskets thru Ford,as they are of a better quality.?? Who should I buy the ilders from.?? Anything else I should know. Thanks Much, Rod:rolleyes:

I'm assuming you have the 4.0 SOHC. If you're doing the upper and lower intake gaskets, you might as well do the timing chain tensioners too. The 00M12 kit has the upper and lower intake gaskets and the front tensioner, order the rear one at the same time to save shipping. Definately use the Ford parts, there are have been problems with the aftermarket tensioners. Tousley Ford has great online pricing that they'll even give you over the phone if you ask. something like cost + 10%? Tasca Ford is another source.

I used all Felpro stuff/gaskets when I replaced my timing chains and everything sealed fine, no leaks at all. But I also took my time during reinstallation and torqued everything down to spec.

The only thing I did add was a little RTV around where the water pump "cover" mates to the upper oil pan, but that's also recommended by Alldata (the service we use to look up procedures).
