Happy new year, folks. I have the 171/174 rough idle on start, so I'm replacing some stuff.

I've got my upper and lower intakes off to change gaskets, pcv, egr o-ring, and noticed a knock sensor, so since its got 190,000 on it so I'm sure it wont hurt to go ahead and replace it while im in there. Since it has a 3" BL, its not real difficult to get the intakes on and off, but why do it more than once, right?

Is there anything else I should change while I'm in there?

Also, (dumb question)...the lower intake is marked L and R. is left while looking at the engine from the front (passenger side), or is left the drivers side (view from behind the wheel)?

Thanks!

Left side is the driver's side, (viewed from behind
the wheel). Good luck with the work.

Timing chain hydraulic tensioner maybe? You have to take off the intake to get at it. Might be a good idea? Just a thought.

Thanks, guys. All back together, and no more hard start, rough idle, P-codes, etc. I went ahead and did the thermostat, too, since its very accessible with the intake removed.

Chain tensioner is a good thought. Its only 30,000 miles old tho, so I didnt this time.
