2018 Ford Explorer Limite
We have a 2018 Ford Explorer Limited we bought in 2018. What started out as the passenger side door sensor was not working intermittently. We thought it was because of the cold or my hands being cold. It progressively has gotten worse to the point it would not work. The drivers side worked great. We took it to the dealer since it was still under warranty and they did not know what was wrong and contacted Ford. They informed the tech to change out the Body Control Module which he did and it did not work. He was then informed to replace both the door handles. He received the door handles and they worked when he got about 3 inches from the door but once he put them in neither one would work. So, Ford has instructed him to replace the wiring pigtails in the door. We are playing the waiting game until the service department receives the parts. The dealership said this is the first one they have received with this kind of problem and there was no information in their system to follow so they could fix the problem. Now, we found out today our front security sensors are not working either. Has anybody else had this problem and if so has it been fixed? We have had our vehicle at the dealership 3-4 times to be fixed. I am just glad we had a spare vehicle to drive or we would have been stranded.

I'm not sure what you mean by "front security sensors"? Does the intelligent access issue occur with both fobs? Does the Securicode keyless pad work to lock/unlock the doors?

I may have called the sensors the wrong name. It is our front safety sensors (the ones that let you know if you are close to something) has now stopped working. Both fobs work and the keyless entry pad works. The passenger door handle sensor is not detecting my hand. It was only the passenger side that was not working. It seems as though we are going backwards instead of going forwards.

Do you have Park Assist? The front sensors help in aiding the Park Assist. Sort of like proximity sensors.
I had the access issue with the driver's door once on my 2017. Called the dealer and made an appointment, then went back and tried the door access again and it worked. Never had the issue again. Cancelled the appointment so I'm not sure what to tell you.
There is another thread with a similar issue on the driver's side but unfortunately the OP never followed up with any solution. Intelligent Access Problems: Drivers Door Unlock

Peter,
I believe that is what it might be called is the Park Assist. We have a front camera and a back camera.
The passenger side door started out intermittently not working and then it progressively got to the point it would not work at all. Since it is still under warranty we took it to the dealership and that is where we are now. We basically are a Guinea Pig for Ford since there is not information in the system about what might have been done before to fix the problem. It just seems we started out with one problem and not we have another problem since they are working on it. It is very frustrating. I am ready for Ford to purchase our vehicle so we could buy something else that is less hectic.

Ok, so our Park Assist is working it was just being finicky. However, they dealership has been taking action from Ford and has decided to replace the pigtail wiring in the door. We took our 2018 Ford Explorer Limited in to be repaired. They finally nailed the problem down. They had to replace the pigtail wiring in the door and the doors now unlock with the sensors. I do not know how long this is going to last but for now the situation has been resolved.

Your not alone I'm experiencing the same kind of issues. At first it was that I brought it to the dealership due to a recall of 07/2022 and when I found out that it was to take a couple days i pulled it out so as to arrange for another car to drive while they worked on my Ford Explorer 2021 that's when the park assist light would not go off. I was told by my manger assistant that they disabled that part of the unit in order to start the recall. So then I got my Ford Explorer 2021 in to have the recall work done and 5 days later they told me that after sensors and a camera were replaced that they had to order a module for the sensor system and I'm now waiting on that part to come. Which is supposedly for the park assist which was the main concren for the recall in the first place.

Welcome to the Forum Kirtacus.
I'm not sure which recall you are referring to with 07/22? What was it for?:dunno: I could be wrong but I don't remember seeing a Recall for the Intelligent Access.
