Hello, I figured I'd at least give you a response.

...the interior lights never come on or off with the doors bing open and theyll stay on tll the battery dies

How do they "stay on" if they "never come on"? You will need to explain that better.

i do have a after market head unit

Did these problems exist before you installed the head unit? Or did they only start appearing once it was installed?

They have never worked only way to get interior lights to come on and go off is to use the dimmer switch and lately when using the dimmer switch if u go up to far all the instrument cluster lights turn off so im thinkn the switch is bad to start with.

For more info say im getn outa my car at night i stop put car in park turn the car off then open door get out then have to turn off the pudle and iterior lights other wise they stay onn till the bat dies wich isnt to much fun to deal with in the am.

They should come on automatically when the doors are opened you shouldn't have to use the dimmer switch to keep them manually on. If you keep them on manually with the dimmer switch they will stay on for a long time. Since they do still come on with the dimmer switch that means most of the circuit is good. I would check something called the Interior lamp relay. On my vehicle that's what the GEM uses to turn the dome lights on and off. Should be listed in your owners manual somewhere.

Okay ill try to locate and check it im also goin to replace the dimmer switch cuz it is loose and just not working corectly you turn it up and if go to far lights go pretty much off so ima replace it
