I did quick search and didn't find what I was looking for, so.....

I'm am wondering if anyone has any info. on where to find armrest / padded door pulls for a XL Explorer with manual windows? I looked everywhere, the junkyard, dealer, ebay, bla bla bla.I do know that Ranger pad won't work (too small) Thought I would give it a try here. Didn't realize how rare manual window Explorers are. LOL.

Is your truck a 2 door or 4 door? 4 door pads might be more pletiful. I have a xl 2 door with manual windows and yes they are unusual. I bought mine back in 2001 and got the passenger side pad from the dealer but the driverside was discontinued. I took the pad off and rebuilt it using foam and some 1/4 inch plywood.

You may want to try a company called Green sales in Cincinnati Oh. They specialize in obsolete Ford parts. They have stuff for cars all the way back into the 30s. Look them up on the web, you have to call them to look up parts though. If they have it and its not the right color, I found some interior coloring that is really good from what i have heard. Its called colorbond. LMC truck sells it, check them out.

This helps alot. It's a 4 door. I was kicking around making them from wood myself, but I thought I would put a little extra effort into it here on this internet machine. LOL

The wood has held up great and you can do it very cheaply. The best part is you cannot even tell its been done. As long as your vinyl is in good shape you are golden.

Not sure if this is helpful but I have long needed the odd panels for the manual windows like you are mentioning. Today while looking for something else in my Dealer Service Manual I found a couple things.

-Ford called the panels "Lo-Series" type
-The part number for the panel is 23942. No color is listed, believe that's in the suffix.
