I haven't driven this latest Explorer in the dark much, but tonight I noticed a couple of things. On the steerig wheel, the right side Cruise Control buttons are illuminated, but not the On/Off on the left. Should they be ?

All switches except the rotary switch controlling the Park/Headlights. (Left side) are illuminated. Should this be too. ?

Thanks

Yeah, they all should be illuminated. I have the same ones out but also a couple of my power window switches in the drivers door don't light up either. I'm about ready to switch them all over to LED's.

on the cruise buttons, theyre a poor design from ford. led conversion is the best way to resolve it, and theres a really good writeup on here. you can replace it for $$$ though.

Thanks guys. I hadn't thought about the window/door switches.

Maybe a quiet Saturday job. Listen to Freddie (Queen) the odd bevvie.

Yes, the headlight switch should be lighted too, but since it is on whenever the key is in the "on" position, the light burns out relatively quickly. Mine has been out for years now.

I have the exact same lights burned out. Once i finish some exterior mods i want to replace them with LED so they dont burn out again

You could replace that bulb from either ford or a TV repair shop. Probably led is the way to go though...

Thanks all, for the info. I am going LED, first on the ones that are out and then the others.

I was looking inside the interior light housing and thinking, bicolor ?? Howabout RED ? I know that submarines used to turn to red, before using their periscope at night so the eyes could become accustomed to the light.

Amazon sells the factory switches brand new for $35.00 or so...
