well i have 1991 navaho with a 5 speed . i have 2 problems maybe related maybe not . its been going on now for 5 months before i explain further i can do many repairs but electrical trouble shooting isnt one of them. you could have a good battery in your hand give it to me an it would strangly go dead thats my kinda luck
ok prob #1 take out of gear at stop light trk will die sometimes idle drops right down
#2 has come up now try an start i get just one click both problems happen at random
each one doesnt seem to make a difference if its warm or cold . trk can run fine for days or it will do one or the other one time then be ok
what ive done since spring replaced battery cable my one 02 sensor sea foamed things up , tryed a different fuel preasure regulator , replaced my solinod on the fender well changed out the neutral relay under the dash
cleaned my maf iac sprayed down crank sensor with elec spray put new serpitine belt on new feul filter i have a cheapo tester that flashes codes at me every time i use it seems they are different #
ill post them but this tread is getting long one other note ill have times that ill stomp on her an it feels like i have a v-12 under the hood most power ive ever felt

gotta get a bigger hammer

well seems no one has wanted to offer any thoughts .my tread hasnt been moved so i assume im under the correct thread area
one problem is fixed turns out the battery stud on the starter soliond had become loose internally an was causing my start problem of just one click every so often
other problem may be fixed saw a broken crank sensor connection an did a zip tie job on it for now only time will tell if it was the problem now to borrow a real code reader an see what shows up do they make a book ( code reader for dummies ) ??? :) :) :) with big pictures:confused:

#1) Vacuum leak?

#2) Need new started seloniod? (Check voltage/ Amperage after relay to starter) If good you might need a new starter.

...i take it you replaced a new positive cable, but still have the same negative cable...
...just guessing from your writing and your symptom's...

yes just changed the positive cable neg will get a new one before winter as soon as i measure the length
ty

... i suggest changing the negative cable...it is the most important wire in your vehicle...if you have a corroded, in the sheathing ground, you will get different codes popping, loss of power, and even just clicking when you try to start it...good luck...:D

:banghead: hi mawrazen :) im not ignoreing ya no vacuum trouble ive sprayed throtle bod cleaner around all hoses an engine speed never changed
read post above haha i did replace starter :) id cheak my amps an volt but the laws of the universe dont apply when im around electricity :banghead: :bsnicker: :bsnicker:

LOL :chug:

well posting a pic of the neg battery cable i took out other day insulation was brittle were it bolted at engine block i had to strip 6" of it off to see how far back it was bad always ment to change this as i like to keep ahead of things
