I bought a 97 XLT 4x4 a couple of weeks ago and it has every now and then a loud whirring noise that lasts 15-30 seconds. Sounds almost like a fan with bad bearings. I drive 42 miles to work and it might happen once on the way and sometimes not at all. This is my first 4x4 and I have never heard a noise like this before. Anybody have any idea what this could be?
