Intermittent Sound from Factory HU

For the past 2 weeks, I have been getting only intermittent sound out of the stereo. The HU shows that a station is being received in stereo, but no sound is coming from the speakers. Then, with no apparent change in any variables, I will get sound for anywhere from a second to a few minutes.

Any thoughts on diagnosis and repair?

My guess is that the output wires from the HU may have come loose.

Can you play tapes and get sound?


When I bought mine, no radio stations would come in, but the deck would play tapes fine.

I just bought an aftermarket HU and some new speakers and I was on my way. They were 12 years old anyway.
