Hello,

Just saying hello. I joined because I've been having difficulties deciding what I should do with my beat to hell daily driver Year 1 Explorer. It runs and drives strong got 200k+ miles. I love my PoS truck. But like I said it is in pretty bad shape not just cosmetically it has mechanical issues but not enough to keep me from using it for everyday everything. I just wouldn't go on any kind of road trip with it. I have all kinds of great ideas for customization. But I am interested in restoration as well. I cannot do both so I want to hear what others think.

Welcome Nathan. I would make it a dependable safe truck first.

Yeah I am definately leaning towards at least repair for full realiability. It would be nice to just go anywhere with a truck that is supposed to just go anywhere. Instead of just all over town.

Thank you sir,

Welcome to this forum! These vehicles are known to last a long time, but you have to consider the cost of restoration compared to a later model vehicle. For example, if you could get a newer model for $5k, then it might not be worth putting $5k into an old vehicle. I know that a later model will need work, so a $5k vehicle might end up with $2k in repairs ($7k total). Then it won't be worth it. Approximately how much do you estimate it will cost to restore? You could save a lot if you do the work yourself.
