I was wondering when you mount the subs inverted do you mount the subs still on the outside or do you like mount the subs on the inside with the magnet still on the outside, I dont know if you understand what im saying, but I cant really describe it? Do you screw the subs in with the surround on the outside or do you have the surround on the outside?

screw the sub in from the outside. use the gasket the sub came with or make your own so that there is a gasket on the right side of the speaker.

If you did it the other way, you'd have to mount the sub to a board then mount the board upside down to the box... in that order. it would be a huge headache for carpeting/finishing the box and even just for building it. It also wouldn't look as cool since the basket would be wort of sunk into the box and wouldn't look as good. take a look at my pics in my link if you get a chance to see what i mean maybe. mine appear to sort of be coming from the other side though because i sunk them .5" into my 2" thick faceplate of the boxes.

I have audiobahns, and they have the chrome metal ring that goes around the sub, I cant use that..so what can I use?

bump...what should I do cause I need a gasket, but I dont have the chrome ring..

performanceproducts.com sells foam that is meant to be used as a gasket. for a cheap and easy one i don't see why 3m foam tape wouldn't work too.

What did you use as a gasket?

what do you look under in performance to look for that gasket?

i used the one that came with my subs.

i think the stuff at performance is called "something tape"

The surround is inside, but it's screwed to the outside.

Im lost on what you meant by that post? I know its screwed to the outside and the surround is pointed into the box, but Im worried about the gasket between the box and the speaker..

Which audiobahns do you have

aw1200q's 12's high excersions

I still don't quite understand what you're getting at, all I can tell you is what I did. On my subs when you look at the face of the sub, around it it had that metal ring you mentioned earlier. I took that off, flipped it over, so the sub was facing down and put i back on, on the other side. Then just screwed down the subs.

so theres no gasket between the sub and the box?

nope

If your looking to get up in the dB's, I wouldn't advise it. It's done mostly just for looks. I did this to my Audiobahn AWT 12" subs and I wasn't happy, it sounded like ass. Is it just for show or just to be loud ?

Are you talking about inverting the subs. Inverting the subs does nothing to the sound when done properly.

Im talking about having the magnets on the outside of the box, with the subs firing into the box, I like the looks, and ive heard both set ups, and they sound about the same..

the only thing i could see making the sound different is if u built the box for the magnet inside then flipped the sub around...u have to build the box knowing what u want to do with it otherwise u will get mush

also those audiobahns 12s or 10s? i just installed 2 12s that sounded horrible..good thing his entire stereo was stolen a few days ago lol

they are 12s, but it all depends on the type of audiobahns that you have, if you have the cheep ones that you buy at circuit city, ya they will sound like crap, just like if you buy pioneer at wal-mart, it all depends on the quality that you buy, I know that mine are good my friends got 4 of my subs with only 1600 watts to all 4 and he hit 154 dbs, and I got 2 with 1600 watts, so I hope/know mine will sound good..and I checked, and the subs are good for .5 cubic feet of space, to 1.5 cubic feet space, so I will be good on it either I put the sub in the box, or invert it..
