I see ford has put up an explorer app. Unfortunately I am not by wifi and I can't download over 3G( stupid I know).
Has anyone tried it? Seems like a good idea for auto manufactures to do this I like having more info at my fingertips. It says youncan even play with mft.

I also think they should make the owners manual an app as well(as long with the included paper copy). Just makes sense..

Nice job ford..

Ya but is it usable in Canada?......normally its not.

Not sure, I set my iTunes account up as an us account just for that reason. So I know it will work once i can get to a wifi connection .

I have both too.

We get left out to often.

How do I make a US account, it asks me for my billing address and my Credit card is hooked up to a Canadian address so it will not let me make my country the US.

Thanks for the note on the app.
By the way, Ford has the 'manual' on their site somewhere in 'PDF' format. I now have it on each computer, and (my iPhone and iPad - using 'Airshare'). I can refer to it anytime.

TOO BAD I DON'T HAVE THE "#@%$#^&" LTD!!!!!! I DECIDED IF I DON'T HAVE IT IN MY GARAGE BY THE END OF THE 8TH WEEK, I'LL CANCEL THE ORDER. FORTUNATELY I DIDN'T HAVE TO SIGN ANYTHING AND HAVE NO MONEY DOWN. CAN JUST WALK AWAY.

You need a US address and Credit Card

I used a us address and then I always get US iTunes cards when I go to the states. No credit card needed.

It's iPad only. No iPhone app.

Just so you know there is no special functionality for an Explorer owner on this App. It's essentially an App brochure. Very well done and great pictures if you want to browse the brochure on your iPad.

I thought it was more functional for an owner kind of like the SYNC App, but it's not.

The iPad app is great: we are waiting on the Explorer and this is a nice way to show our 'baby in the oven' to friends and family. From a technology evolution point of view, it also shows the potential for interactive brochures outstripping the information and utility of the glossy paper brochures.

It's really nice to be able to see instantly the effects of color change, seat color adjustments, interactive 360 cabin and exterior views plus videos of trailer sway control, terrain management, etc. The intimacy of the iPad makes it a better experience than the website, in my opinion.

I wish they had a video of the parallel parking assist feature as well as the powerfold 3rd row. I'd imagine this would increase the upsell for those on the fence. In fact, it's surprising they don't have these videos on the Explorer website itself.

You can find all kinds of videos on the official Explorer youtube channel. From 3rd row power seat, Parallel Parking, Remote start and etc...

Thanks for the video links. Actually, I've been stalking these as well as part of my ongoing obsession until I actually see one (they're logged in my Youtube playlist). Regardless, the links above should help others find the videos easily.

What I probably should have said was that the iPad app (and the Ford website) missed the opportunity to include some of these videos without buyers needing to search for external links.

Thanks for the feedback on the app! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask me and I’ll look into it! :)

I downloaded it - would have been great to have the owner's manual in it, or MFT info, but it's fairly lame - not worth the effort.

Great app. Just downloaded to my iPad 2 and loved one of the pics (the one with the Explorer in front of the huge trees, which look like Pac NW or northern Cali somewhere). Any idea if that pic is available anywhere online? Would love to use it as wallpaper in our Explorer. Haven't seen the image anywhere on Ford's site or online.

I’m sorry I didn’t see your post before. Are there any other particular features you’d like to see added? Please let me know so I can pass it along! You can also submit ideas directly to www.TheFordStory.com! Once the idea is submitted, others can rate it and comment their own feedback!

LushMojo, I did a search and couldn’t find exactly what you were looking for. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to help, but I’ll research this and let you know if I come across anything.
