2010 Explorer XLT
I have a 2010 Explorer XLT. The Grill and hood trim piece have seen better days, and many winters. Is it possible (with modification if necessary) to use the Black Grill and Trim from a Sport Track in place of the stock fauxchrome pieces? I saw some black headlights that would look sick with that grill and trim piece. Has anyone ever done this?

I have a 2010 Sport Trac Limited. My profile pic shows the chrome grill and headlights it came with. I have switched these to black/smoke.
You can NOT use an Adrenaline package grill. The front fascia is different, as in longer.

What you can use is an Explorer grill that came from the Ironman package around 2008. I bought one New Old Stock off eBay in December, but the vendor no longer has these. I had to paint my grill emblem. I also had to paint the piece of trim on the hood. Those do not seem to exist in black anywhere. I bought a brand new piece of trim and painted it. My old one looked OK but the clip areas inside were mostly broken.

There are aftermarket black grills out there, a bit different than stock.

If your grill is structurally sound, painting it may be a good answer, but it would take patience and a lot of preparation. There are few threads here posting how others did that.

My original chrome grill is in very good shape. It got a minor stress crack inside the lower opening from removing it, but other than that nice shiny chrome. My Sport Trac had 88K miles when I got it. I would sell it for $50 plus shipping. I even have it in the factory box the black one came in.

The headlights are pretty easy to find. I bought mine from the Headlights Depot online.

That's a beauty mate. I have an XLT model, and was looking to find out if the grills are all the same between the sport track and the XLT? I want to replace my chrome grill (that is bubling and the chrome is seperating) to a black one I saw on Ebay. It says it's for Sport Track only, but what is really the difference. Thanks for your reply.

The grills are the same for Explorer and MOST Sport Trac (XLT and MOST Limited). Where it gets weird is Sport Trac Adrenaline and some Limited with that body kit. Those grills are longer and the fascia dips down further. If you see front fender vents like a 70’s Pontiac Trans Am, that grill won’t fit an Explorer.
