Is it possible to turn off the E-4WD system?

Hello just last week I was in some snow with my 90 Aerostar Eddie. I asked my wife to see if the front wheels spin with the rear wheels. My ?? is can one disconnect the front wheels from coming on?? Also are there seperate lights for the digital dash I was cleaning my Van with 2001 Super Protectant same as Armeral & the speedo light came on but I still can't see the Tack,Temp & fuel gage.

The E-4WD is computer controlled, and is not user adjustable. It might be possible to shut it off in a similar way like the brown wire mod on the Explorer if you could get a wiring diagram, and make a cut off switch. As for the digital dash problem, is your display dim or just not on at all?

Sorry for the mixup my front wheels don't spin when the rear wheels spin maybe the other owner had them shut off ??
The display is a bit dim compared to the digital dash on a 1990 Lincoln.

Check the dimmer control.

Yes I tried the dimmer control before but it did not dim or get any brighter.

Is there a way to disengage the E-4WD on an Aerostar?

Morning,
I'm new to this so cut me some slack if you can on, "do a search please".
I just picked up a 1991 Aerostar with electronic 4-wheel drive. Is there any way to put a bypass switch on it to keep it from engaging the front axles?

Welcome to this forum! I've deleted your thread in the transmission section, and merged your thread in the Aerostar section with another one on the same topic. Do you plan on only using the E-4WD in the winter or do want to just keep it from engaging? The control module determines when it should engage, but you could add a switch going to the module to keep it off. I've deleted your other thread since it's the same as this one. Could you update your profile to include your vehicle, and location?
