I think most if not all 94's are R134. Mine is. There is usually a little gold colored sticker on the AC line near the high pressure service port that will say R134 on it. If you can't find the sticker then unscrew the black plastic cap on one of the service ports-- if the service port connector is threaded on the outside, then you have R12, if it is a quick-connect type fitting (smooth on the outside with a ridge for the quick connect to lock into) then it's R134.

It should also be on the sticker that's attached to the hood, or raditor support.

my 94 xlt was r134a factory stock

I know this is an old old old thread but here it is anyway...

1994 was the year of the big CHANGE.....
As part of the MONTREAL PROTOCAL federal law said Automakers were to phase out
the use of R-12 as a refrigerant in cars by the model year 1994.
So having said that, ANY 94 and newer car\truck etc will be 134-a, and usually
any 93 and older car\truck etc will be the old friend R-12.

Not ALL 94 and new where 134.. my 94 Jimmy was r12.

94 was the last year makers could put 12 in as new construction (basically depleting old stock of hardware).

HMMMM....
If i am wrong then I apologize to all..
