Is my Transmission going out on me?

I have a 1998 Eddie Bauer 5.0 Explorer. It has 120,x..+ miles on it. The last couple months, I have been feeling a "shudder" when I accelerate from a stop. It feels like it is coming anywhere from the transmission or rear end area. It has gotten progressively worst recently.

Can someone tell me what this might be?

I'd look first at the universal joints and the rear axle bearings. Could also be the
differential, especially if you have limited slip which wears out faster.
