Is sport trac 4x4 a good buy??

i'm looking to buy an explorer sport trac and would like to know if anyone had any experience with the 4x4 version. Particularly, how good are they off-road? can they hold their own, do they have problems or bugs, are they worth the money. any info anyone can give would be helpful. thanks

I haven't heard of any problems with them. They seem to be very reliable and do well offroad from what I've seen. If you want a Sport Trac then get one. They are nice.

How much offroad use is this ST going to see? If you want it primarily for off-road use, then I would say no it is not a good buy. If you want to use it as a grocery getter that goes off-road sometimes, then yes. But these vehicles will surprise you. You might find yourself out-wheeling your friends with 31's,32's,33's.......

There are, of course, many problems or bugs with them, just like any other vehicle out there. If you want a general indication of their reliability, check out the TSB's for them, and do a search for them on this site.
