I cut away the floor and now have my fuel pump exposed from the top.
My first time doing this.
Top of pump has 2 steel line connecitons - into a coupler - into the fuel lines
There are heavy steel clips over each coupler holding the lines on.
Q: This clip has to be removed. It is not something you just pry off with a flat head screwdriver.
Anyone know if a special tool is needed to get these clips removed?
After they're off is a special tool needed to get the fuel lines off the old pump connections?

Q: The top of the pump also has the black electrical connecitons clip. Does this come off with just a screwdriver?
I do not want to snap it off without knowing if there's a right way.

Thanks. AA * I've searched everywhere and not finding about these.

Yes you need a fuel line and A/C line disconnect tool. Im partial to the white plastic ones, I think they are easiest to use. The black electrical part does not come off, you disconnect the plug on the inside of the framerail just behind the tank near the brakeline.

Any auto parts or tool store should have these. A few styles:

That steel clip, if I'm understanding you right, is what holds both ends of the lines together to prevent them from separating in case the quick connect (not quick disconnect) ever comes apart. You DO pry them off with a screwdriver and just push them back on when you're done. The tools Brian linked to are for disconnecting the line and will make life much easier for you.

Success!!! :) :chug::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Nav is up and running. New pump assembly online $48. came today. plugged it in and it ran!! Got the lines off extremely easy with the removal tool. Cleaned the surround of the pump then soaked it with PB . Then more PB an hour later. The ring was not easy at all and no stores had any removal tools. Tried tapping with a screwdriver but wouldn't move. What got it off was prying the ring away from the top of the pump and then whacking with a hammer and a pry bar on the ring tabs one at a time.

Sealed it up with some sheet metal with weatherstripping and a few metal screws if I ever have to do this again. :hammer:

Vacuumed all the carpet and put the rear seats back in & together. Thanks to all who heped along the way.
