Hi all,

I'm looking at a 2001 Eddie Bauer V8 2WD with 104k miles with standard EB options, leather, sunroof, etc. It is a 1 owner and other than needing the carpet cleaned the interior is in great condition for it's age. The guy has all the maintenance records and it's never had any significant issues. Tires are 60-70% used. It has a cracked windshield ($225 to replace) and the hood has some large paint chips (quarter sized), will need repainting. Everything works and it seems that it has been well maintained. He is asking $5500, I was going to offer $4500 and maybe go up to $5000. I have not been able to find anything at all in the area in that condition for below 6-8k. No accidents and clean carfax and autocheck. Underside is clean, no leaks, no dirt, looks like it was never offroad.

Just wondering what you guys think.

I wouldn't go over $3.5k. Unless things are different in your area, these things are a dime a dozen. Especially since it's not in great shape.

I wish I could find one around here for even close to that. No way you're gonna find a v8 with close 100k for that around here. Most have 150k + and go for 3-4k.

I would say if you get it for $5k it is a good deal, especially for the miles. Ck nadaguides.com for an idea on Private Party sale value in your area. As far as finding them a dime a dozen the Gen. II models are starting to get a little harder to find. Some are now completely worn out and some ended up destroyed last year in the cash for clunkers program. My Uncle has a 2000 Mountaineer with 210k that is his daily driver. It has the SOHC engine and has had no major repairs since new. Good luck with purchase negotiation!

Everyone has their own opinions but sounds like you live in a tough area and I know around my area trucks like that would go for $4-5k

$4k would be a fair offer.

I agree- they're not as easy to find, clean, as they were a year ago. I'd say $4k- $4,500. Keep in mind that a 2000-2001 Ex loaded out with 100k shows around $6,300 KBB private party, so not all of them can be had for a really good number. I ran into that when I was searching for a truck when I got Shamrock and...
