Its kind of strange trying to explain this but here it goes:

I was in a parking lot making a complete turn around turning the steering wheel to the left, it would make some weird type jerk movements but i only notice it when turn left but not right.

also when going real slow, turning the wheel it will feel like it slipping, i first thought since it is winter it was some ice but it happens on dry pavements as well.

is this normal?

whats your axle code, most likely you have a limited slip and clutches going bad, i would first try a rear flush and make sure you add the additive in the rear.

if you have a limited slip. post your axle code found on the drivers door.

The axle code is D4.

Sorrynot being clear in my first post but the slipping feeling is in the front when turning the wheel happens when going front and back.

Thanks

your rear end is locking up.

flush it.

new synthetic fluid and 1 bottle of additive.

then do circles with the car at low speeds, 15 or so in each directions.

....

Some 2003-2004 Expedition, 2003 Navigator, 2004 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 9.75" or 8.8" limited slip rear axle, and 2002-2004 Explorer 4dr, Mountaineer, and Mustang vehicles equipped with 8.8" limited slip rear axle, may exhibit a chatter, shudder, a binding sensation, or a vibration during low speed turns. On 4X4 vehicles, the sensation may appear to be originating from the front axle or the steering gear.

.....

was part of the tsb and an expensive repair, its easier to see if the fluid change fixes the issue first.

Sorry for being a noob but do you need to jack up the vehicle to flush it out? How exactly is this done?

doesn't ford cover tsb?..and how expensive of a repair are we talking?

could be also related to the tsb related to false 4wd engagement in slow speeds turns. TSB 05-3-8

what you need, a pan, a 3/4 to 1/2 inch adapter, a 3/8 ratchet and a 1/2 in ratchet.

ford does not cover tsb they are just prior to diag a in warranty common problem for techs.

recalls ford covers.

jack up the truck or if your small enough probably get under it, remove the big 3/4 drain plug let the fluid out, reinstall it. jacking up the truck will be better since you get better leverage to take that plug out. use jack stands! dont support it on a jack or use ramps.

once its empty, just take the top 3/8 plug out put in the additive and new fluid, then just do slow circles 15 or so each directions. should fix it. if it dont the rear needs new clutches.

if it needs new clutches your looks of 800 and up my guess.

the flush is more a diy and pretty inexpensive, about 100 or under the additive is 20 the 3 quarts can be 60 bux less tools.
