LOL......Ford sucked into this tax payer floated EV sham joke on the tax payers back, Uh that's on the readers back.....as the tech part of EV is not ready and the US econ is suppose to be at a 2.00 gallon gas matrix and if 2.00 gallon gas is not brought back the US econ will crash along with the EV and if brought to 2.00 the EV lie is not worth buying over a gas truck. So the Ford V6-V8 is still king as the EV lie is peddle for chumps who dont want to believe the country has to run at 2.00 gallon gas matrix. This makes the Ford V8 V6 gas engine king .....so do you lie now or lie later...the EV was sold before its time and V8 V6 gas engine at 2.00 gallon is the best deal and should be king. So Ford is betting on the word of Washington to bankrupt the country by making gas be 5.00 - 8.00 to 10.00 gallon to make this worth doing and clasp mid america gas engine trucks and cars now, for the Big Three EV to soon car, truck tech EV not ready sham.

Ford heir says its new 'lightning' F-150 EV MUST be a success or it could kill the company amid fears over competition from the Tesla truck, global computer chip shortages and rocketing price of lithium and nickel needed for batteries

  • William Ford Junior admitted the F-150 is the equivalent of 'betting the company'
  • But the executive chair believes if it takes off it will be an 'enormous opportunity'
  • Ford is battling a flooded market for electric vehicles, amid Tesla, GM and Rivian
  • It is also launching the F-150 amid a global shortage of the vital computer chips
  • Meanwhile vital parts for the new truck's batteries are surging in prices in the US

  • Ford's new electric pick up truck needs to be a success or the company is at risk, the firm's heir has warned. William Ford Junior admitted the $40,000 F-150 'lightning' is the equivalent of 'betting the company' and if it flops it could 'tarnish the entire franchise'.

But the motor company's executive chair - and founder Henry's great-grandson - believes if it takes off it will be an 'enormous opportunity'.

Ford is battling a flooded market for electric vehicles as it struggles to keep up with stiff competition from Tesla, GM and Rivian.

It is also launching the F-150 amid a global shortage of computer chips that could halt the rollout halted before it even begins.

Meanwhile vital parts for the new truck's batteries - including lithium and nickel - are surging in prices across the country.

imo, the bronc rerelease is a bigger bet than the lightning, altho it is sort of a deifning model for ford's stance on EVs and their EV success... but imo he bronc was the biggest one to get right, as it gave ford a brand image along w the 7.3(?) pushrod, etc... but as far as EVs the lightning is also a big gamble imo, lets hope it doesnt become the next bmw i8 🤣 lets see where this threadgoes...

true, they dont have the range/fuel availability of our gassers, but imo, they can have a place if we can make the grid more robust/green, at least for the average commuter, but imo if i had an electri car i would keep a gasser on hand tho 🤣

I agree in 25 - 30 years ....its a Washington sham on the tax payers back right now vs. a well design gas engine at 2.00
gallon. Where gas has to be to work, 2.00 gallon.....and the EV does not work at that price ex for a few mom's...

Pointless propaganda. Just like last time. There will be no rollouts that bankrupt America. It wouldn’t be possible to implement before it’s time. Why waste your time being bothered by things that can’t happen?

Ford has to get into the electric vehicle competition. It’s got no choice. It’s going to be the way of the future. It’s why they quit making carbureted cars. Because at some point they became stupid. They didn’t go right to direct injection. Or multiport. They started with basic throttle body injection and build in it generationally. Just like they are going to do with electric cars.

Not getting into the market at all would be stupid.

Even if this is a 100% flop it wouldn’t ruin Ford. No huge company puts all their eggs in one basket.

So whats Ford profit 25% ? and you put in 50% to make EV and it flops...uhmmmm

Last month Ford announced it would modernize and convert the company into two sections - Ford Blue for petrol or diesel cars and Model E for electric ones.

It proved popular as stocks soared to $25, before slumping back down to $15 amid Russia's brutal war in Ukraine.

Telling your enemy when you will pull out of a war zone is stupid, most people not politicians know that.

Suggesting a deadline(law) that kills the internal combustion engine is also stupid, which is what California just did. Easy math by any smart kid in school, can figure out that right now there is not enough electricity to feed a 100% EV car market.

The EV cars on the road right now are less than 10% of the total, and less than 10% of all electricity comes from solar and wind, hydroelectric, or nuclear plants. So anyone should be able to see that we cannot simply decree all ICE's must die, and increase EV numbers by ten times, while reducing electricity production by 90%(coal and natural gas power plants).

Until some technology finds ways to produce more electricity than we have now, without coal or natural gas, then we have to keep using coal and natural gas. Killing ICE's and mandating EV's will just make the shortage of electricity far worse.

I support technologies to improve batteries, EV's, and energy production etc. But I do not support the government mandating anything, or limiting anything by decree. Let the free market move technology along, with help from the government and others, but not with mandates.

sometimes change is brought about by mandating the impossible ;) but in this case i agree with you!

So correct Fix4Dirt Master...As a old post said so correctly "you cant legislate technology"...which is what is going on here...the hardship
across the board, doing this is unfair to 85% of the country.....and to ignore the facts of a 100 years plus industrial revolution...no small event
from horse and wagon, Henry Ford released the American citizen to the gas auto.

LOL....lets see where this threadgoes...:popcorn: ......LOL.........:popcorn::popcorn:

Yes, if we were close on production of electricity, such as 90% green now, and 50% of on road vehicles were EV's, then maybe a small nudge would be helpful. But right now those two problems are massive, each of them alone is massive. California already has regular brownouts, shortage of electricity. What happens when EV's double and reach 15% or so of total vehicles? That will be a big problem there in CA, and I think that's coming soon there. What happens when they force cut backs on coal usage etc, and there is less electricity than they have now? They are on the edge of huge shortages now, just a little more and their economy will be on fire if something doesn't alter their course.

imo tech flows with the consumer, so i have a feeling eventually it will become more prevalent, and anyways,, cant rush perfection! but at times in history, soemtimes there have been some mandates/rules that did lead to positive change, but im doubtful this will be one... but whi knows, sometimes we have pulled off the impossible... but probably not in 2022... maybe in 2052 🤣 but at the rate were headed, im nto sure iw ant to see 2052 sometimes!

California is aiming for 2035 to kill all gas and diesel engines. I don't think they will have ten times more of the electricity they have now, to feed ten times more EV's.

yeah i heard, but i have a feeling it will be one of those things that get pushed off... just kickin the can down th eline ;) classic politician... oh well, i wouldnt be a great politician, so cant say much

Very true. All politicians shoot for the moon with a slingshot, scream that the sky is falling all of the time, and they assume the voters are idiots who believe them. They are trying to lead the sheep to the far far side of the conversation, to get support for more spending programs, to solve the problems which they are creating.

a quore from i think char's signature... "think for yourself, sheep end up dead!" now i think there is a place for the politician, but i tend to take what they say wit a grain of salt... but sometimes there is good...

LOL.....CA cant keep the lights on now for toasters and microwave ovens and then ever 4 years it all burns down and for the diesel being out in 2035 dont see it any time soon for what the miracle diesel does..a diesel engine is a badass event and power plant no one is pushing the diesel engine out any time soon..............for a candy ass flashlight car....

And to quote and grate American....LOL...Fix4Dirt .....lets see where this threadgoes... .........

We will always be able to take our gas powered cars trucks to the track
Imo
Electric cars are great in a city setting keep down on smog
But out in the country hills long drives electric cars battery just die quicker
We don't have the battery tech yet among other things

i think regardless of which way we go, EV or not gas cars still have their place (after all, no charging stations in the middle of the mountains!!! but guess what tehre are? gas stations nearby!) and for long haull vehicles... agree with donalds, at least in cities like here in LA most people dont need gas cars on a daily basis, if we can make grid greener EVs are find for 90%,, but its the last 10%! then again, im part of the problem!!! consuming the fuel saved by EVs 🤣 🤣 🤣 (i have an MPG killer for a commuter, still gas, but much mroe efficient than the X... but on the weekends... guess which one gets its share of driving ;) )

gotta love the fire suppression of today!!! just keep kickin the can down the road... at leas the fires give me good stuff for the lawn!
