Each Prius is worse for the environment than a Hummer is, the battery materials to build that little car are worse pollution than the fuel that a Hummer burns. That's an old example, maybe most EV's now have a smaller need for those dangerous elements that make up the batteries. We don't know, those are details they really don't want to tell us about.

i wont even mention cobalt ;) i think if we can make grid greener/more reliable and the production less reliant on stuff like this it could be viable as a primary use, and gassers are there for long haul,HD use etc

I think it’s almost certain there will be a new battery technology in the next 10 years.

i think if we choose to drive an X, we are all, to some extent, part of the problem!! 🤣
Wow Im going to have to pull my psychologist license now....Fix4Dirt and Donalds neither one of you "are the problem" 100%
not the problem....Unless both of you were pulled into a room at Home Depot and had 100 watt flood lights shown on your face for
6 hours with no water.....You both are in a hydrocarbon world with no fault of our own. Dont go towards the gov. talking point light,
run or drive your gas car as far away as you can get and dont fall for "you are the problem" with a miss run system long before
you were ever dreamed into thinking you were.....When I snap my fingers Doanlds you are for 24 hours will think you are a duck.......
and Fix4Dirt when I snap my fingers and you wake up you will think for 48 hours and while at work you are pro wrestler "Nature Boy"
just dont hit anyone....or hurt Donald.

Sure. People were also born in the horse world. And steam. I don’t see you utilizing either of those.

I think it’s almost certain there will be a new battery technology in the next 10 years.

I'm also sure some new batteries will be put on the market soon. I have a LiFePo4 battery in my old 73 Ranchero now, it has an 11 year warrantee and works great for the old low powered alternator output. It was very expensive, but it saves me from constant charging, and another battery dying too soon, due to not driving the vehicle enough.

But I don't think now is a good time to jump off of the cliff, and expect to find a parachute on the way down. Let's wait until the batteries are much better, less poisonous, cheaper, and then talk about how to charge them. Where does the electricity come from? We are going to need many many times what we can make right now. Better batteries do not solve that problem at all, the energy has to come from somewhere.

Better batteries help the pollution and negative effects of the cars being built. The grid needs updated, fully, anyways. This is a multi pronged problem. Of course one solution won’t fix everything.

I fail to see what the big deal is? If you are not going to buy an electric car why waste your time talking about it?

i think if we choose to drive an X, we are all, to some extent, part of the problem!! 🤣
A problem not as problematic as it's made out to be! In Chicago as a kid, rode the electric buses. Do they still have these? A wiser use of electricity than trying to make each individual car electric. When an electric car battery catches fire, it's close enough to impossible to put it out. How many of those type of accidents does a state like California want to endure? Or any other state where wildfires are a problem.

One thing not addressed, the companies making AFFORDABLE cars, which is what really put Ford on the map. Many people who drive, can't afford even a cheap 20K car and rely on used, even very OLD used cars/trucks (Shout out to the 1st 3 generation forums here!). And they won't be spending 20k for new batteries either. I'm looking to see which company *may not even exist yet* matches the coup accomplished by the Japanese companies that came out with all the little gas savers after the very FIRST 'oil crisis' ! (be they gas, hydrogen, diesel or steam!) Affordable and reliable will win.

Well Shaggin Wagon...We have to go back in time...to when people rode dinosaurs, they used sticks to make it turn right or left, then the coconut dry cell battery came along and they used low voltage shock to turn the dinosaurs, their was a problem the dinosaurs got mad and ate the driver so the dinosaurs riders got on their istone and were reading about this eating people issue and the dry cell coconut issue. Fast forward to now for you and even if you dont want to buy a EV car or truck when the gov. take billions in someone else money to give to a working auto Big Three that means the EV cars and Trucks cant make it in the market...so the middle class who does not have the money pays for this. Washington screw ups give Billions to Big Three screw ups with someone else money, so they dont care how it goes or who gets hurt.
Second this directly effects the cost of the regular cars and trucks now! as the gov. right now is trying to inflat the gas prices to make something
a EV car more wanted in the market which is government interference in a forced transportation market. Thats why you would read something that you dont understand about the EV cars that effect on 70% of the country that cant afford a 40K car and a non repairable at home auto that
you are forced to take to a inflated car repair shop......at what 300.00 hour. Shaggin Wagon when I snap my fingers you will wake up you will
think for 24 hours that you are seriously a cabbage patch doll that has been kidnapped and you were in a EV get away car and the battery goes dead and you are saved by Rambo the movie star and you will tell everyone at work this for 24 hours....this is a real event......"You are sure of it and Rambo will prove it" and you are calling him, while you are in the HR office.

Amazing how everyone is worried about the price of gas but you never hear about the cost of rent going up to the point a studio apartment rent is $2,000 a month in the ghetto. The moon landing was filming in Hollywood and 9/11 was an inside job.

the sad thing is your dinosaur nonsense is actually as factual as everything else you’ve posted.

Crying over the “middle class” not being able to afford a 40k car is laughable.

You are aware your current Explorer was probably over 40k new, aren’t you? Geez. Wonder how those poor folks were able to buy it…..

You don’t have a clue whats going on with the economy and it all leads back to 2.00 gallon base line. And EVs are not worth it at that point.

This is a hydrocarbon base system for 100 years you don’t change it in 1 year if in 30 years. The below on WHouse getting ready to screw the American people again with a carbon tax, you have to be kidding me. What you are going to burden the American tax payer into a government pyramid scheme...this is unreal. That fool will crash the US econ if this goes through. Now he is shipping our natural gas to the EU who screwed up for a 125% up on the US citizen and will go back on the US engine and fuel event now......this is a cluster F' of unseen ever. N.gas has gone from $3.26 to $8.31.
The nitrogen fertilizer is or was made in Russia see whats getting ready to happen to hydrocarbon food cost due to you know who. It say's below the Gov is going to screw the hydrocarbon base system up because its to cheap for the US citizen and screw the
whole econ up. Their are no Green Jobs all those items are made in where China. This is a sham attack in the car indusrty on the backs of the middle class, the largest taxes payers are small business.

White House Report Says Energy Taxes Are ‘Needed’ For Green Transition

The White House added that consumers would continue purchasing “artificially inexpensive, carbon-intensive goods” without proper government policies in place.
“Such carbon prices could be implemented directly via carbon taxes, indirectly through a cap on emissions and tradable permits, or through other similar policy tools,” the CEA said in the report.

Energy Prices Set To Skyrocket Further As Biden Diverts More Natural Gas To Europe

Natural gas prices have skyrocketed in recent weeks as President Joe Biden’s deal to send more to Europe has reportedly cut into U.S. supplies.

The Henry Hub natural gas spot price, an indicator of U.S. gas prices, hit $7.98 per million British thermal units (MMBtu) on Monday while May 2022 futures hit $7.87 per MMBtu and December 2022 futures traded at $8.31 per MMBtu, accordinng to the latest CME Group marketplace data. The average price of natural gas was $3.26 per MMBtu between 2010-2021 by comparison, federal data

So you dont understand the econmy is built on 2.00 gas ...that right now their is serious major inflation, serious due to Joe jacking the gas to 4.00 and 6 or 8.00 in CA. And gas has to go back to 2.00 to pull the US econ out of whats coming. And when it goes back the EV push is over
and they will sale but not over a gas truck the biggest sale'ers for the Big Three.

White House Report Says Energy Taxes Are ‘Needed’ For Green Transition

Energy Prices Set To Skyrocket Further As Biden Diverts More Natural Gas To Europe

Great non-answer just like always. The economy wasn’t built on 2.00 a gallon gas. What a ridiculous idea. Let’s see a source.

Oh, did you know you’re currently driving a car the middle class couldn’t hope to ever afford new? No comment?

Remember we will always have used cars
I could never afford A new car so I buy a used one then Appreciate what I have
And take care of it

So basically the government is going to spend tax money on something you don't like and it has you all bent out of shape. Eventually the imports like Kia, honda and Toyota will be majority EVs. Guess we could have the 70s mentality all over again where the American auto companies said the people don't want small reliable fuel efficient cars, they want big gas guzzlers.

LOL......Ford sucked into this tax payer floated EV sham joke on the tax payers back, Uh that's on the readers back.....as the tech part of EV is not ready and the US econ is suppose to be at a 2.00 gallon gas matrix and if 2.00 gallon gas is not brought back the US econ will crash along with the EV and if brought to 2.00 the EV lie is not worth buying over a gas truck. So the Ford V6-V8 is still king as the EV lie is peddle for chumps who dont want to believe the country has to run at 2.00 gallon gas matrix. This makes the Ford V8 V6 gas engine king .....so do you lie now or lie later...the EV was sold before its time and V8 V6 gas engine at 2.00 gallon is the best deal and should be king. So Ford is betting on the word of Washington to bankrupt the country by making gas be 5.00 - 8.00 to 10.00 gallon to make this worth doing and clasp mid america gas engine trucks and cars now, for the Big Three EV to soon car, truck tech EV not ready sham.

Ford heir says its new 'lightning' F-150 EV MUST be a success or it could kill the company amid fears over competition from the Tesla truck, global computer chip shortages and rocketing price of lithium and nickel needed for batteries

  • William Ford Junior admitted the F-150 is the equivalent of 'betting the company'
  • But the executive chair believes if it takes off it will be an 'enormous opportunity'
  • Ford is battling a flooded market for electric vehicles, amid Tesla, GM and Rivian
  • It is also launching the F-150 amid a global shortage of the vital computer chips
  • Meanwhile vital parts for the new truck's batteries are surging in prices in the US

  • Ford's new electric pick up truck needs to be a success or the company is at risk, the firm's heir has warned. William Ford Junior admitted the $40,000 F-150 'lightning' is the equivalent of 'betting the company' and if it flops it could 'tarnish the entire franchise'.

But the motor company's executive chair - and founder Henry's great-grandson - believes if it takes off it will be an 'enormous opportunity'.

Ford is battling a flooded market for electric vehicles as it struggles to keep up with stiff competition from Tesla, GM and Rivian.

It is also launching the F-150 amid a global shortage of computer chips that could halt the rollout halted before it even begins.

Meanwhile vital parts for the new truck's batteries - including lithium and nickel - are surging in prices across the country.
Such a distorted view of the EV market. I guess you don't realize that we need to think beyond current economics and realize that we're killing our planet and its atmosphere. The EV isn't the perfect answer but it starts us down a path away from our dependence on fossil fuel vehicles. Our current generation may not be affected badly enough but our children and grandchildren may end up paying the price for our ignorance.
Think, its not too late.........

agree with this!!! if we can greenify the grid and prices come down a bit compared to hybrids etc, i think EVs could be good DD's and gassers can still be around for long distance etc, but then begs the question that if EVs are this popular in the future and gas takes the back seat, will there be less gas stations, and will it be closer to how sparse ev stations are now? for now, i think i would go with a hybrid maverick for the best of both worlds considering prcie etc

Kia has a 2 billion dollar factory, and is the only auto maker in Georgia. After over 80k absolutely trouble free miles on a $17,000 car, I say bring them on.
