This has been a great forum. Its been nearly four years since I discovered this site.

I never intended to sell it but I bought a 30' 6,000 lb (loaded) travel trailer. After great debating and researching I decided it was in my best interest, and those sharing the road, that I use a more stable tow vehicle. But I must say, my daughter actually cried a little when I turned over the keys. I bought this truck when she was only 9 months old (she is now 8).

So the wife and I bought a 2004 F250 crew cab short bed 4X4 (FX4) with the 6.0 diesel. It had 10k miles on it. What a fantastic truck.

While its been a while since I have been posting, I will miss those that I used to talk with now and then, like Spindlecone and Aldive.

Great site guys. I will still visit now and then.

Thanks,

-Rob

Well at least you stayed in the Ford family:thumbsup: :salute:

whats wrong with hanging out?

You'll be much happier using the truck as a tow rig (as I'm sure you know by now). It'll drag that trailer all over the country without breaking a sweat!

There are a bunch of great sites for PowerStroke enthusiasts, and it's amazing how much power you can extract from the 6.0 with an intake, exhaust, and a tuner. (Last I heard, most guys were getting 50% more Hp and 60-70% more tq!!) You'll love it!

My prediction: You'll be back.... 7 or 8 more years and you'll be buying a diesel pusher and back in the market for an Explorer with a neutral tow kit to pull behind it LOL!!

Don't be a stranger!

You'll love the PowerStroke, it's an awesome engine. I worked for International Harvester back in 1980. I was at the Melrose Park, Illinois engineering facility working as an engineer in their advanced engine design/development lab. It was my first job out of engineering school. I was given the task of developing the intake and exhaust port configurations on the original 6.9 liter version of the engine.

We had a blast putting that one together, we could run our engines at 150% of rated output for literally months on end. There was almost never a problem, practically from the beginning of development. Of course we also tested the competition. I remember that the Olds diesel would literally hand grenade after about 3-4 hours at 100% rated output.

Enjoy your new PowerStroke!

Aren't diesel fuel more expensive than regular fuel now? At least it's more expensive here in Hawaii. I would love to have a diesel car/truck.. lots of torque. Maybe you can convert your Truck to run on Used vegetable oil .. That might be interesting.. hehehe

I know diesel where I live is 45-50 cents more per gallon tahn 87 unleaded.

If diesel is 20% more than gas, it's still a deal as you'll get 25% better fuel economy with diesel easily. One guy I work with has a 5.4, and another has a 'stroke in their SD's. The guy with the 5.4 gets about 13-14 mpg around town, the guy with the diesel averages 19-20 mpg. Seems like a worthwhile trade-off. :)

Yes, I love the PS. I get just a bit better MPG than I did with my X that weighed 3700lbs lighter. It pulls like no tomorrow.

Yes, diesel is more expensive here as well due to the recent reformulation to ULSD. Veggie oil is not good for the injectors, so thats out. I still would tow with a diesel over a gasser any day.

tktrain, what a fantastic job to have. Its too bad International is having financial troubles. I hope they come out of it.

No programs/chips for me. All stock for now until the warranty runs out. It has more power than I know what to do with already.

I have already fond a few forums for the diesel. The main forum that I frequent is thedieselstop.com. I use the same SN there as well.

Yup, still like to see whats going on around here…
