i think everyone likes to kinda pick their own spot. just put them somewhere under the frame rails, sometimes i stick em under the control arms. if your just changing the oil it might be easier to just drive it up ramps. whatever you do, dont place them under a body panel that is not supported by the chassy of the car or you will bend it from the weight of the vehicle + gravity, i learned the hard way when i was 17.

x2 -- ramps are much safer once you put the vehicle on Park and block the wheels off.

You can change oil by just putting the front end up? I thought the vehicle had to be level?

I too agree that ramps are the best way. Much easier to use and are safer.

Good luck ....

For oil changes I don't bother with ramps, jacks, or jack stands. Th Explorer has enough ground clearance to change oil without raising it up, IMO.

For work where I do need the height, I just place the stands under the frame rails where they do not interfere with whatever access I need.

Interesting... thank you!

For changing oil, I use ramps when possible. Otherwise, I won't use anything. If I were using jackstands, I would put them on the frame.

haven't done it yet...

How do you change yours?

disabled... it's a big production just to look at the struts, so no oil changes yet... Ford is doing them now.

Its a tight fit so I use a 2x12 as a ramp and put the left front tire on it. Adds just enough room to squeeze under easily.
