I've wondered this since I got my 2000 Sport 15 years ago, is this really where to put the jackstands when you need to support the frame? It's a thin piece of sheet metal with a short bead of weld. It obviously has bent some under load. But there's not another obvious place to support it (other than under the control arms, but this isn't always an option).

I always keep the floor jack under the subframe as a backup but it still makes me a bit nervous.

I use them a lot. Ive used jacks under the torsion bars as secondaries. Dual jacks under the front crossmember/cradle if I need to get the whole front of vehicle in the air.

I use them too but I always thought they looked weak and sketchy. Guess I have nothing to worry about. Thanks

If you’ve got a welder, clean the joints up and get some free practice in.
