I've been looking through past Ford motors getting an idea of a future (far) engine swap.

Hypothetically would a Jaguar, say late 90's XJR supercharged, engine be able to fit into a 2001 sport frame with out serious modification to the frame rail itself minus new motor mounts? What about body panels/firewall?

Next, would there even be a 4x4 transmission that could be fitted to the engine?

Again, just curious. My mind day dreams a lot. The horsepower/torque look very appealing and it got me thinking.

something might be able to de adapted... i remember reading that for the james bond movie where halley berry was the bond girl, that the jaguar the bad gyu drives was actually a 4xd explorer with the jag body, cause the jag trans and traction system wouldn´t behave as they wanted in the ice driving scenes.

Nikasil cylinder liners

I would not consider the 1998 thru 2000 XJR engine. Jaguar used Nikasil cylinder liners which resulted in accelerated engine wear and premature engine failure.

What about a newer model 2004-present XJR or XKR? Or maybe even a 2006 Range Rover?

These liners are used by a number of manufacturers...

Like BMW, Ferrari, Jaguar, Porsche, and a number of motorcycle engine manufacturers...I believe the amount of sulfur in some of the worlds' fuels caused accelerated wear and a breakdown of the coatings...

Personally I would like to see the twin-turbo 3.5 liter Taurus SHO engine mounted up to a 5 or 6 speed automatic in an Explorer...I have driven a new SHO at speed and the engine is one of the most wonderfully running Ford engines short of the GT40 I have had the pleasure of driving in a long time...

Yes sir, I agree the SHO would be cool. It would be a shame to tear apart a $35k+ car because I don't foresee finding many laying around in a junkyard. The hp/torque/more importantly mpg would be AWESOME.

Whatever you do, commit to it. Too many threads on the forum about fancy engine swaps (including diesel) that never bear fruit.

Ewww... Me likey. Maybe by then I can afford to do the swap. Plus from what I read the 5.0 would be in the F150 also which should have a 4x4 option which would make it easy to find a matching tranny.

From what I read also, they might be doing something called the "Road Runner" engine that will be even more BA based on the bugs-bunny cartoons.

now we're talking.. that would be a pretty sweet engine... i'd expect you could buy one in crate engine form..

There was a SHO ecoboost engine on ebay, with trans for $4k. Not sure if its still there or not. Good luck getting all of the electronics to work, plus the direct injection.

I think I actually like the idea of the 2011 5.0l better than the SHO at this point because of the possibility of easier adaptability.

Plus it's more B.A. :D
