Jasper Engine stated that they took apart their 2nd bad motor and could find nothing wrong with it, stating it was put together correctly. Jasper stated that they suspect that the PCV Valve is defective, which of course is not theirs, and that would cause the very low oil pressure, bad lifters and bad timing chain tensioners.

Jasper Engine told my mechanic that they will pay for this 3rd engine replacement of theirs but that if the this occurs again they will not cover the repairs if continued to be caused by the PCV Valve.

Jaspers cost this time was $1500.00 in labor plus the 3rd engine.

I guess my question is, can the PCV Valve cause these problems.

Mechanic has checked the Ford PCV Valve and says it's working correctly. Merchanic says Jasper is trying to find a escape goat.

Whats Up????????

NO WAY...

There is no way PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) valve can cause low oil pressure. All a PCV valve does is pull off oil vapors from the valve cover through the intake. Oil vapor has nothing to do with oil pressure. They used to just vent the vapors into the atmosphere, but due to EPA, they now have to be sent through the combustion chamber to burn off any oil vapor.

I think you need to ask them to explain what the hell their tallking about?

Just to make them happy, I would purchase a new $10 PCV valve and see what happens. Save the reciept.

The PCV valve is just a simple check valve (one way valve). If you can hear the little ball rattle when you shake it, it is probably ok, but if in doubt just replace it.

That is the lamest excuse I have ever heard. If a mechanic told me that the PCV killed the engine I would know that he is incompetent or a liar or both.
